The duo EWE Go and Hochtief Ladepartner already have several smaller locations in the German network in operation - but none with a roof yet. Now a roofed charging park has been connected to the network in Oer-Erkenschwick. And the largest of the two partners to date.

With the twelve fast charging points - i.e. six charging stations with two connections each - the two partners are expanding their public charging infrastructure in western Germany. It took around seven months from the ground-breaking ceremony on Horneburger Straße in Oer-Erkenschwick to commissioning, according to Hochtief. A minimum of 200 kW per charging point is prescribed in the German network. If only one charging point of a column is occupied, even up to 400 kW can flow into the battery - if the connected electric car can call up this power.

The charging park at Horneburger Straße 181 is not only located at an important intersection of two busy roads, which Hochtief says is a convenient location. The covered charging points are also located directly next to a retail park with a fast-food restaurant and DIY store. "This means that the site not only offers a convenient location, but also sensible options for bridging the charging time."

The two companies have brought other partners on board for the roof construction. The foundations come from the Dutch family-owned company Bosch Beton, "which is considered one of the pioneers in Europe for sustainable concrete production". The roof structure was produced by RSB Rudolstädter Systembau GmbH, an internationally active company. "Both service providers have created a structure made from sustainable wood and a low-CO2 concrete mix, complemented by PV modules manufactured in Germany," says Hochtief.

The charging park in Oer-Erkenschwick is one of currently 40 projects that EWE Go and Hochtief have already built or are under construction as part of the German network initiated by the Federal Ministry of Transport - another 30 are planned. The focus here is on locations where public charging facilities have not previously been a common sight.

"With the new fast-charging park in Oer-Erkenschwick, EWE Go and Hochtief are showing what modern electromobility can look like: sustainable, powerful and close to everyday life," emphasized Christian Friege, Chief Market Officer at EWE AG, at the opening ceremony. Where there used to be a parking lot, a place has been created where mobility, sustainability and innovation come together. Together with our partners, we have realized a project that stands for climate protection and progress and points the way to a climate-neutral infrastructure," added Peter Coenen, Managing Director of Hochtief PPP Solutions GmbH.
