Befesa $BFSA (+0.76%) impresses with strong EBITDA growth and an impressive jump in profits in the third quarter of 2025, while facing challenges in the aluminum segment.
The industrial recycler also benefited from low zinc smelting charges in the third quarter. The Luxembourg-based company achieved a strong jump in profits. Adjusted for special effects, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (adjusted EBITDA) rose by 27 percent to 62 million euros in the three months to the end of September, the company, which is listed on the small caps index SDax, announced on Thursday. Befesa more than quadrupled its bottom-line profit to almost 21 million euros. Net profit in Q3 2025 rose by 318% to €21m, while net profit for the first nine months increased by 143% to €61m.
Although turnover remained slightly down in the third quarter at minus 1% to € 290 million, Group CEO Asier Zarraonandia expects high volumes in all markets for the rest of the year due to maintenance work in the steel dust segment that has now been completed. He therefore also held out the prospect of a "strong result" for the final quarter and also confirmed the forecast for the year. Accordingly, Befesa continues to aim for an increase in profits in the day-to-day business to EUR 240 to 265 million in 2025.
The analyst firm Jefferies left the rating for Befesa at "Buy" with a price target of 37 euros. Fabian Piasta attested to the recycling specialist's "strong quarterly figures" on Thursday. Befesa achieved the expected return to volume growth in the third quarter. Profit development also improved further due to the favorable price and cost environment.
