Distributing variant

Good morning!

Today I opted for a distributing ETF for the first time - as motivation and to make more relaxed use of the tax-free allowance.

Important: 95% of the ETF portfolio is best made up of accumulating ETFs (-> tax deferral effect)

Have a nice day!

"Important: 95% of the ETF portfolio consists of accumulating ETFs (-> tax deferral effect)" So in Germany there is no dividend-equivalent income, as in Austria?

@Harmonie In any case, ChatGPT tells me the following: "This example shows that for an investment of €10,000 in the accumulating iShares Core MSCI World on 01.01.2024 in 2024 - under the assumptions made - an investor would have to pay approx. €36.93 in tax (notional) in Germany and approx. €38.50 in Austria." This is about the German advance lump sum. In DE you would have had to pay more in 2024 than in Ö. Am I missing something?

After my question: "Does it make a difference in DE for this example whether it is distributing or accumulating?" the following summarized answer came: The tax burden in the example - assuming a notional income of € 140 - is therefore approximately the same for both variants (distributing or accumulating), even if the mechanism for determining the income is different.

So it seems to have made no difference for 2024 in DE whether you chose an accumulating or distributing ETF. Or am I misunderstanding this?

@Harmonie Yes, it is. It's called an advance lump sum. It is also due on accumulators. Calculated about as logically as Trump's tariffs. But as long as the "prime rate" is low, accumulators are still better from a tax perspective.

@Harmonie For details, it's best to read the pinned post in @Doe 's profile. One of the best summaries for this somewhat complicated topic :)

@marda304 I find the comparison to Trump's tariffs (unfortunately) very fitting 😂
