Why is silver falling by 6.2%?

My silver ETC $WSIL (+1.9%) has fallen back to its purchase price today.

You would think that gold and silver would be the anchor of stability in the portfolio.

Have you taken a closer look at silver?
Approximately 50% of the performance is driven by monetary factors, and the depreciation of the USD is having an impact today.
The other 50% is industrial, and that's where the recession fears come in.

So everything is normal on the silver market. 👍

Well, on the other hand, both metals are of course also heavily used in the production of technical components. But if you don't know for sure whether you can get the end product to the customer at a reasonable price, you will of course cut back on production and certain raw materials will no longer be in such high demand. The price will then also fall due to changes in demand. The same will happen with copper and nickel.

Although the market environment favors gold and silver in the medium term, this does not mean that there can be no volatility.
Especially with silver, which is more speculative than gold and has a smaller market.

When investors need liquidity, hardly any investment is safe in the short term.
