Rheinmetall?

Do you think it's too late to invest in the $RHM (-3,99%) share? Of course, nobody can predict the political situation, but I would like your thoughts on this.

I'm not usually the type to buy high and sell low, but I'm really unsure whether this one might still be worthwhile.

The share price has increased twenty-fold in the last three or four years. It's a bit late for FOMO now. I wouldn't go back in there ...

@Charmin Thank you for your opinion.
immagine del profilo
@Charmin I've thought the same thing 20 times and, lo and behold, every month there was another 50% on top. You just can't look into the crystal ball.
immagine del profilo
@Emil_Invest No, you can't. But you can assess opportunities/risks. And if a stock goes up 20x, then a lot of fantasy is priced into the price.

What if the Ukraine conflict is settled? Then it would plummet by 50% (and would still be highly valued).

For me, an entry is too risky. At the beginning of the crisis, I backed the completely wrong horse out of sheer laziness/stupidity (ThyssenKrupp - I have no idea what the devil got me there).
immagine del profilo
@Charmin ThyssenKrupp has 144% YTD, how much do you have? -3.8%?

@slava_ukraine I bought TK three years ago or so (just under 10 euros, if I remember). And there was no progress at all. So I sold again because the prospects weren't there. Now they're still at 8 euros something. So I'm not crying over the sale.

@Charmin PS: What my return YTD has to do with this is beyond me. But to play along with your game: I have just under a million in shares. What about you?

@Charmin then I'll have just under 0.5 million, and it's only a matter of time before I crack the million :)

If you stay good, yes.

I had also asked myself the same question, but after some consideration I rejected it and instead bought into this European defense ETF Wisdom European defense - which also seems to be doing quite well and no longer just benefits from Rheinmetall. I also don't think that Rheinmetall will start a very strong upward rally now, there will be a little more, but the gold rush era is probably over. For smaller trial balloons I still have a small position in Droneshield from Australia, for example - just to see what happens. I don't have that many specialized companies for this type of weapons technology on my radar yet.

Better look around for potential takeover targets for RHM.
The M&A season should start soon for the defense companies.

@Epi Do you have any examples? Vg

@Shem_sen I'm not an expert on this. Maybe $M4N is good for something? 🤷
But you have to delve deep into the subject. Nothing comes from nothing.

What is your investment horizon?
immagine del profilo
@BeachPlease I have time, I would say.
immagine del profilo
That's nice xD Ok, to put it another way: would you want to put up with a share falling for a few months because you are convinced that the company will perform well in the long term? If so, then you can still get in on RHM.
immagine del profilo
@BeachPlease That's what I meant by I have time. I only invest money that I have left over either way. Whether I leave it lying around for 10 years or not.
Thanks for your opinion.

I think there are firms in the defense industry which are far more undervalued than Rheinmetall
immagine del profilo
@Hendan looking for those opportunities. Any suggestions?
immagine del profilo
@ZaphodB I'm invested in $LDO , I think it's the most undervalued in the sector
immagine del profilo
@Hendan Thanks - will have a closer look on Leonardo, interesting....

I would wait with Rheinmetall until it has a P/E ratio of 20 again, maybe it is going sideways now and will become cheaper over time or it will correct and then you can buy it cheaper
immagine del profilo
Too late. I've had a custody account since 2023
immagine del profilo
@Pinkafeld you happier.
immagine del profilo
I got out at 1,400 with 120% plus and annoyingly, I would not get back in NOW

You can buy the iShares Europe Defense UCITS ETF, which includes Rheinmetall at around 19%. The people at BlackRock are not stupid and know what they are doing.
immagine del profilo
@slava_ukraine the people at Blackrock collect their commission from every ETF, so they don't care if ETF crashes 50% in 1-2 years
immagine del profilo
@Pinkafeld ETF is about >100% YTD, why should it plunge 50% in 1-2 years??? Will NATO be dissolved in 1-2 years?
immagine del profilo
@slava_ukraine Also a very good idea.

@slava_ukraine I liked the idea SOOO much that I just bought a small position in it. I think they are just at the beginning of a stable and good development. Thanks for a good tip, I was looking for something like that.

I had 5 shares in my portfolio and sold them exactly in May 2024... Also with a high profit... The share price also went up sharply after the war started and I thought it couldn't go any further, especially because a certain president wanted to end the war and I thought he would win the election.
At the time, I sold at a price of 520 euros. Today we are all smarter. Maybe you shouldn't just look at a chart and follow it. And don't take tips from someone who has exactly one share in their portfolio 😜
I have now sold Rheinmetall and Hensold.
Unfortunately a little too early and getting back in now was too critical for me
That's why I bought the ETF Wisdom, which also covers other defense companies. And it is doing quite well.
I am still invested in Thales and Airbus
