How do you buy your bitcoins?

And where do you store them?

I currently have a savings plan on the $BITC (-3,1%) but this is associated with a lot of fees etc. That's why I'd like to switch.

Bison, on a hardware wallet. I have Ledger, but I wouldn't recommend it, although I have also bought from Kraken, Binance, BTC-E, wex.nz and Mt Gox in the past

@DonkeyInvestor Why would you not recommend the Ledger? Do you have alternatives ?

@Joris because of various scandals. It also offers too many functions (and therefore potential security gaps) if you only want to hold Bitcoin. BitBox 2 in the Bitcoin Only version is said to be good

@DonkeyInvestor ok thanks. and if you want to hold several cryptos? also have crypto ETP with Scalable, but costs fees and not tax-free.
immagine del profilo
@Joris then it depends. Which ones do you want to keep? How many do you want to keep? Is it worth it? ...?

@DonkeyInvestor Beginner's question: What do you actually do with a defective hardware wallet?

@randomdude buy a new one 👍

@DonkeyInvestor that's complicated 😂 just buy everything from Finanzen.Zero, they are real coins and tax-free after a year. You can't send them anywhere, but you just want to participate in the increase in value.

@Joris I conclude from this that you don't believe in the crash or an apocalypse 🤣

@Joris Yes, that's fine. If you store with a third-party provider, they should be regulated and your coins should be insured accordingly

@randomdude Seriously: cryptocurrencies depend on a private key. The hardware wallet is just an instrument for generating this key securely and interacting with it easily and securely (i.e. staking, sending coins, ...). Your private key or the seed phrase from which your private key can be generated is important. You must keep this safe after it has been generated by the hardware wallet. If your wallet breaks, you can enter the seed phrase in a new wallet or a software wallet or... and have access to your coins again

I regularly buy my shares via Bitvavo and hold them on BitBox02, Bitvavo because of the comparatively low fees and BitBox02 because it is open source.

Via an open-end certificate from Vontobel: ISIN DE000VX1BTC7. This is of course associated with a few disadvantages (e.g. issuer risk, tax, no "real" Bitcoin, ....), but for me it is the easiest way to participate in the performance.

Honestly, Ledger is absolutely TOP. Scandals..., everything is unnecessarily pushed into the negative. If you don't want the seed phrase recovery option, you can continue to use your ledger as usual and nothing will be transmitted. I think every hardware wallet manufacturer can program this option! @DonkeyInvestor @Joris

@Danibanani Apart from the fact that this was not the only scandal, you have probably not understood the reason. There are AirGapped wallets, for example, that cannot receive an update and are certainly not forced to receive an update. So the function cannot be added later.

Bison + Ledger Nano X

Purchase via Relai, then Ledger

Kraken + Ledger

Bison, Bitvavo, nexo

@Koenigmidas hi, is it safe to leave the purchased coins on Bitvavo?
immagine del profilo
@Joris Actually, you should never leave your coins on an exchange. I only find flex staking attractive there
immagine del profilo
@Koenigmidas ok thanks. Which crypto are you staking?
immagine del profilo
@Joris eth, the graph, near, cosmos, cardano
immagine del profilo
@Koenigmidas thanks. Cosmos with 10% is insane 😅
immagine del profilo
@Koenigmidas in the app you can't see how much there is, can you? ok I just saw that there is staking and lending, what's the difference? https://support.bitvavo.com/hc/de/articles/4405243949841-Staking-und-Lending-bei-Bitvavo
immagine del profilo
@Joris With staking, cryptocurrencies are not lent out but held in a wallet to support and secure the network. Staking rewards are offered as a reward and incentive. With lending, the loans are tied for a certain period of time. source:google
