Thanks for the article. I've also been using the BMW version of the Amex card for what feels like 20 years.
I think it's a bit of a shame that there are no longer such great rewards for Membership Rewards as there used to be, as there were still categories such as technology, outdoor, household, etc. ....
Now I only use them for refueling because of the cashback and once a year for our Herz rental car where I redeem the points.
I also often use it to book trips because of the international health insurance.
The customer service and the mobile app are also positive.

@Haberlapp Thank you for your praise! I had the Amex Gold for several years and was already on the verge of giving it up because I could hardly benefit from the advantages apart from collecting points. But then I had the opportunity to switch to the Amex Platinum with a big welcome bonus - and I really have to say that the rewards and benefits are much more attractive with the Platinum card. In the first month alone, I was able to get around €400 of the almost €700 annual fee back through restaurant credit. That was a real game changer for me. I actually have the feeling that the Platinum card is cheaper for me than the Gold card because the intrinsic value of the benefits on offer is simply much higher
