Both Boeing and the French aircraft supplier Safran have already contacted their suppliers to clarify the possible effects of a major fire at SPS. This incident occurred on February 17 and could significantly disrupt the aircraft manufacturers' supply chains. In a letter sent to suppliers after the fire, Boeing asked whether parts from the SPS factory in Jenkintown are regularly used and what the consequences would be if these parts were missing. Airbus has also commented on the incident. A spokesperson confirmed: "It is too early to confirm the extent of our exposure, but we expect the impact on our operations to be limited." Engine manufacturer GE Aerospace has already sent teams to SPS to find alternative production sites and replacement suppliers.
