A study by the European Center for Digital Competitiveness on the ๐๐ข๐ ๐ข๐ญ๐๐ฅ๐ ๐๐๐ญ๐ญ๐๐๐ฐ๐๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐รค๐ก๐ข๐ ๐ค๐๐ข๐ญ gives Germany a poor report card. According to this study, the Federal Republic has landed in the international comparison for the second time in a row
Countries such as Italy and France, on the other hand, have made up decent ground in the rankings. Compared with the G20 countries (the 20 most important industrialized and emerging countries), we are also far behind in third last place.
In Handelsballt, Philip Meissner, lead author of the study and professor at ESCP Business School in Berlin, complains that "there's a lot of talk about digitization in Germany, but relatively little is happening." The reality in the election campaign looks even worse: In the first TV three-way fight between the candidates for chancellor, the opponents and moderators simply dropped the topic of digitization under the table.
We looked into it and it measures up on the following parameters:
' Availability of venture capital
' Cost of starting a business
' Time to start a business
' Ease of hiring foreign labor
' Qualifications of graduates
' Digital skills of the labor force
' Attitudes toward entrepreneurial risk
' Diversity of the workforce
' Mobile broadband subscriptions
' Companies embracing breakthrough ideas.
When we look at broadband rollout in Germany, we really wonder how heavy-handed we are in tackling the issue of digitization. What's your take on the issue?
