Where were you in 2021 when $FSLY (+0%) similar happened? And not nearly as much infrastructure was affected.

The loss of trust is immense ... take that into account.

Huge Microsoft outage linked to CrowdStrike paralyzes computers worldwide .

A CrowdStrike software update has led to widespread IT outages affecting banks, airports, TV stations, hotels and more. Windows computers worldwide are experiencing Blue Screens of Death (BSODs), flight bans and business interruptions.

The first reports came from Australia, soon followed by the UK, India, Germany, the Netherlands and the USA. The US airlines United, Delta and American Airlines ordered a "global ground stop". Sky News went offline.

CrowdStrike confirmed that the problem was due to a misconfigured update and not a cyberattack. Technicians posted on Reddit about the BSODs and provided a workaround. The update, which is linked to CrowdStrike's Falcon Sensor product, only affected Windows devices.

The global impact is severe, resulting in significant losses for businesses and delays to public services. The UK's NHS reported disruption to GP appointments and UK rail operators faced delays. Airports around the world are experiencing long queues and delays.

Cybersecurity expert Lukasz Olejnik emphasizes our dependence on IT and the risks of software systems maintained by vendors. Kevin Beaumont noted that the faulty update causes Windows to crash repeatedly, with no automatic solution currently available. Brody Nisbet from CrowdStrike advised a manual solution with safe mode and file deletion.

I almost wanted to go in too, but when I read that apparently even the emergency call in NewYork was down at times because of this, I'm very careful whether they'll still get a good one on the lid... 😬
