If you take it strictly, you have to say that the ETF pope has launched its own ETF that does not pursue passive investing.

@Watzeklicker That is true. The index concept is so (over-?)engineered that it no longer has much to do with the original idea of passive investing. I wouldn't buy it yet either. Let's see if it works in practice first.

@Watzeklicker Why does everyone act as if Gerd had set up an actively managed fund? The ETF simply tracks an index for which there are clear rules. Instead of a 1-factor model, a multi-factor approach was chosen here. Which Gerdyboy has also repeatedly described in his books. I myself have built a multi-factor portfolio and it gets very small very quickly. (You have to be up for it) I think it's good that there is finally a product where you have everything in one. Conclusion: The Kommer ETF is passive, it only tracks more than one factor. You can want that or not.

@userd1ae984c293941e4 It practically takes the ACWI and intervenes according to certain criteria. Limiting the volume of individual stocks alone is already an active intervention.

@Watzeklicker I think there is a definition problem here. If we are talking about different things but using the same words, this inevitably leads to misunderstandings. According to Wikipedia, passive investing is: "usually more or less perfectly replicating a benchmark provided by a stock market index.[2] Asset reallocations are rarely necessary (for example, when adjusting the index composition)." https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passives_Management According to this definition, the Kommer ETF is a passive investment strategy. What is your definition of passive investing? And where did you get it from?

@userd1ae984c293941e4 In other words, which stock market index does the Kommer ETF track?
@userd1ae984c293941e4 Well, you can do that too. You practically trade actively and create your own index. Then you call it passive, because you only follow this index. Dr. Andreas Beck recently gave a great explanation somewhere as to why this ETF is fundamentally not passive. But I don't care whether you call this construct active or passive. You seem to be somehow bothered by it. What counts in the end is success.
@Watzeklicker Nonsense, passive investing simply means ignoring the current market and investing automatically according to fixed rules. That's exactly what his ETF does.
@AlexBloch 🤦🏻Bei You get passively aggressive with nonsense like that.
@Watzeklicker Does Kommer himself select individual stocks that he forecasts to be profitable at the current time? No ! Does he engage in market timing by selling shares as soon as they fall? No ! Will he still be following the rules of his index in 30 years' time, which were established once and firmly 1 year ago? Yes !! ... Any more questions about whether he invests actively or passively?
