+++ Hanseatic Stock Exchange Hamburg +++

During my visit to the Hanseatic City of Hamburg (HH was incorporated into the Hanseatic League since 1189 with the construction of the Neustadt), one cannot help but discover the historic building of the Hanseatic Stock Exchange, located on the Binnenalster. Located directly on Kleine Johannisstraße and on the way to the City Hall, this building is present.

The Hanseatic Stock Exchange was founded in 1558 and had as its first goal the trading of commodities. However, parallel money and exchange transactions were also carried out at that time. Thus, the Hamburg Stock Exchange is the oldest still existing stock exchange in Germany, whose number is eight.

Regular securities trading has also taken place in Hamburg since 1815.

Since 1999, the Lower Saxony Stock Exchange in Hanover and the Hamburg Stock Exchange have been working together in a joint company: BÖAG Börsen AG.

In 2017, the Düsseldorf Stock Exchange also joined the umbrella company.

The Hamburg Stock Exchange is, and this is where it gets exciting for all Traderepublic customers, the operator of the LS-Exchange. That is, the Lang&Schwarz Exchange, which has its origins in Düsseldorf. Traderepublic's trading is handled via LS Exchange.

LS Exchange is the electronic/digital trading system of BÖAG Börsen AG. Marketmaker and liquidity provider is Lang&Schwarz TradingCenter AG.

The HASPAX indices are listed on the Hamburg Stock Exchange. This was founded on April 15, 1996 and published for the first time on May 2 of the same year. The HASPAX is a performance index, i.e. it includes both share price development and dividend payouts. The maximum weighting of the individual companies is set at a maximum of 15%, thus allowing sufficient diversification and observation of the various companies from the Hamburg business community.

The index itself includes, for example, Beiersdorf $BEI (+0%) ; Deutsche Euroshop $DEQ (+0,05%) ; Encavis $ECV (+0,06%) but also Jungheinrich $JUN3 (+0%) and TAG Immobilien $TEG (+0%) are represented.

The stock exchange itself can be visited on your own from Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.. You should also visit the regular art exhibitions. This is worthwhile in any case.

With luck, you can also take a look at the only commodity exchange in the building, the grain exchange. Due to its proximity to the port of Hamburg (the hub for grain, pulses and animal feed in Europe), there is a lot of trading activity here.

Have you ever been to the Hanseatische Wertpapierbörse Hamburg or any other stock exchange?
