October has been another interesting month across global markets — volatile, yet generally positive.
📉 Bond yields finally pulled back after months of pressure, with long-term rates dropping across the US, UK, Germany, and Japan. Investors started to believe central banks may be done tightening for now.
🏦 In the US, the Fed cut rates by 25bps and paused Quantitative Tightening — a move that boosted equities but also brought short-term volatility as Powell kept a cautious tone.
💷 In Europe, equities held up surprisingly well despite softer macro data. The $FTSE100 hit new highs, helped by the strong performance of pharma stocks like $AZN.
🇫🇷 Meanwhile, France saw renewed political instability after the Prime Minister’s sudden resignation, putting pressure on European indices and the euro.
🇯🇵 Over in Japan, optimism surged after Sanae Takaichi’s election victory, as investors welcomed her pro-stimulus economic stance. The $NIKKEI jumped, while the yen weakened further.
💡 Inflation remains sticky worldwide, and fiscal risks are still on the radar — but the overall sentiment shifted toward cautious optimism.
