Philip Morris International $PM (+0,34 %) has made a $16 billion takeover bid for rival Swedish Match $SWMA which is best known for producing smokeless "snus." Shares of Swedish Match $SWMA have seen a 32% premium since the talks were announced. This product is currently not approved for sale in the EU, with the exception of Sweden, but the move is part of PMI's push to diversify beyond tobacco-based products.
