Various media outlets are reporting on a lawsuit against various food giants over highly processed foods in the USA. What do you think?

I do indeed find it alarming for those who are hoping for long-term organic growth and dividends from these stocks. Actually, the companies mentioned - especially CocaCola - were considered a safe bet. The lawsuit is a risk. Perhaps not comparable with the glyphosate lawsuits at $BAYN (-0,7 %) but astonishing amounts can always be won in US courts.

I think it's a shame that the industry is being attacked. And I think it's typical that people are once again trying to shift personal responsibility onto the entrepreneur.

If you smoke, it's unhealthy.
Drinking alcohol is unhealthy.
Eating greasy food is unhealthy.
If you ski, you can break your legs

Yes, it's common knowledge. Everyone has to decide for themselves and then reckon with the potential consequences.

@NichtRelevant Basically, I am also in favour of personal responsibility, but the question is whether consumers were able to recognize this. And $NESN has at least been criticized on several occasions. And in the EU, too, the labeling requirement for genetically modified foods is to be severely restricted. This means that the risk of unknowingly eating unhealthy food is increasing.
I'm more the type of person who eats what I like and doesn't invest in food stocks.

@NichtRelevant If the food behavior of citizens is to be regulated by a state, these states should think about the fact that enough people in the world would be happy to have something to eat at all. 😡

@Multibagger Yes. I go along with labeling. That would be relatively easy to implement.

But it should be clear that cola consists mainly of sugar, for example, even without a separate label.

@NichtRelevant Yes, everyone should know that. But I also don't think that sugar is the problem in this lawsuit.

Yes, you can, but you don't have to. Apart from the fact that these companies produce the most garbage in terms of nutrition, responsible and responsible citizens should be able to judge and decide for themselves. But maturity and responsibility are not in fashion. We would rather have a nanny state that tells us what is good and bad and makes decisions for us.
