Hello my dears,
Aktienmagazin is now also reporting on Silicon Motion.
When we as investors think of the current AI boom, names like NVIDIA or AMD immediately spring to mind. But a closer look at the supply chains often reveals more lucrative opportunities. One such prime example is Silicon Motion Technology Corporation (SIMO). Following the latest quarterly figures at the end of April, which exceeded expectations with strong growth and enormous profitability, the company is increasingly attracting the attention of institutional investors.
At the most recent JPMorgan Global Technology Conference on May 19, 2026, CEO Wallace Kou and CFO Jason Tsai provided impressive insights. The key message: the global hunger for artificial intelligence is driving up demand to such an extent that memory chips (NAND and DRAM) are expected to remain in short supply until 2027. While such a shortage used to pose a risk for Silicon Motion, the company is now benefiting from it. SIMO is the only player to maintain active projects with all seven major NAND manufacturers simultaneously, thus securing valuable capacity and market share.
SIMO is now playing to its strengths in the promising enterprise segment in particular. The company's "boot drive" solutions are now essential for the global AI infrastructure and are used in NVIDIA's BlueField chips, the new Vera Rubin platform and by the world's leading search engine operators, among others. Business is also scaling rapidly in the automotive industry.
Even a predicted decline in the market for smartphones and PCs does not worry the management. Thanks to strong market share gains, as major chip manufacturers increasingly outsource their controller business to SIMO, and the flourishing business with AI-supported IoT devices, Silicon Motion is simply growing against the trend. With a very strong gross margin target of 48-50% and excellent operating leverage, Silicon Motion offers a rare combination of rapid growth, strong pricing power and high profitability. The stock broke out to a new all-time high on May 26 and could now continue to run in a timely manner. (SIMO)
