Bad news from Rocket Lab…

"The company $RKLB (+4,04 %) announced on Wednesday that the maiden flight of the reusable medium-range rocket is now expected in 2027. A presentation with further details is available on the investor relations page. The announcement did not specify the reasons for the delay.

To date, Rocket Lab has served the market with its small rockets, Electron and HASTE. Neutron is intended to expand the company’s business into the larger payload class.

Trading on the stock market had already closed by that time. The stock closed at $59.21, down 7.8 percent. In after-hours trading, it fell another six percent or so to around $55.50.”

Here’s a brief comment on that:

I remain invested and cautiously optimistic; as I’ve already emphasized in my previous analyses, Rocket Lab’s greatest potential lies in the Space Systems division—that is, everything related to the rocket, not the rocket itself. The problem is that Neutron has a psychological impact on many investors, so the stock price is likely to dip for the time being…

@Klein-Anleger Was Neutron the reason why Rklb rocketed above 100usd last time? Or was it a hype around space programs? As you wrote, I agree it is a psychological impact now. As soon as the market start rising again, no one will elaborate about Neutron 🙂

Yeah, the mood is really down after this news. Especially since it basically means we’re looking at Q2/3 2027 again. But it doesn’t really change the long-term story, which revolves mainly around Space Systems and Iridium. Neutron is certainly a very important enabler for Iridium constellations, but if you look 10 years into the future, it’s completely irrelevant whether Neutron launches in 2026 or 2027—the only thing that matters is that it launches eventually.

This is going to be tough. The launch has been postponed so many times already. The
reason, it seems, is that microscopic voids were discovered in the carbon-fiber composite of the forward fuel tanks.
Such inclusions may generally meet industry standards, but they do not meet the extreme safety margins required for an orbital launch system.

Of course, that means high costs once again.

@Semos25 Where do you see the floor?

@Klein-Anleger So the support zone has been broken. If it drops below $40, things are going to get tough.

@Klein-Anleger The first time we see higher volume again is around +/- 47 USD. We won't see really high volume again until it reaches 30 USD.

You'll understand eventually. You just lack experience.

I’ve been following RKLB ever since Peter Beck threw in the towel, and SpaceX ever since their first Falcon 1 rusted away in the Pacific. Both companies are years behind their timelines—that’s completely normal. Space is hard. This is an opportunity to buy more shares before they go up 10x again in the next cycle :)

It still stands—SpaceX is number one, Rocket Lab is number two. U.S. government agencies have to spread out their contracts. Elon has become a security risk by now—so it’s worth considering who should launch the massive constellations in the future. Think about what that means in terms of contract volume.

Investors have really taken a beating over the past few days.

@TradingHase But it's not explicitly just Rocket Lab, is it?
••

@Nevs1848 No, even companies like $IREN or $ONDS are currently struggling with sharp declines.

@TradingHase That's right, that's exactly what I said 😉

@TradingHase Are you planning to buy more right now?

@Kanye-Invest Not at the moment, due to a lack of capital. Otherwise, I do see potential in the company.
