Bitcoin: The End of the Holding Period Is Drawing Near

$BTC (+0,26 %)

Starting next year, the holding period for Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies will likely be abolished. At least a draft bill is now on the table.

At any rate, there are plans to grant grandfathering provisions for all holdings acquired by December 31, 2026.

Even though it probably won’t change anything, the quorum for the petition on this issue has already been reached, and it’s still open for a few more days:

@asset_sage_smmad If you ever want to save on taxes when you sell, definitely.

As announced, this administration is not raising taxes. Oh, wait...

@marda304 That's right... no increase.
Just the introduction of a new tax that didn't exist before.

So, in addition to my regular monthly savings plan, I’ll probably be putting a few extra installments into digital gold 🙏

Do a little legwork and hit the 10% target for my 100k goal this year.

But always remember, it’s just a draft bill… so a lot can still change at any time.

@Nuqqx I also assume that the final word on this hasn't been said yet, but as things stand now, we can still wait and see before making our final Bitcoin purchase. If it comes to that, though, I’d still convert some fiat to BTC before December 31, even though I’ve already exceeded my target allocation of 21%.

Then I still need to do a little shopping to fill up my coin jar before Jan. 1, 2027 🥳😅
