Rheinmetall plans Starlink alternative

$RHM (+2,33 %)
$OHB (+34,72 %)

Hello my dears,

I have already introduced OHB to you, but unfortunately I have not invested myself. Did any of you invest after my presentation?

According to insiders, the defense group Rheinmetall is in negotiations with the space and technology group OHB for a Starlink competitor.

26.01.2026 at 09:39

The armaments group Rheinmetall and Bremen-based space and technology group OHB are discussing plans for the joint construction of a satellite system comparable to Starlink for the Bundeswehr. The two companies are in talks about the project, a person familiar with the matter said on Monday, confirming reports in the "Financial Times" and the "Handelsblatt" newspaper.

The talks are at an early stage, according to the FT. However, Rheinmetall and OHB wanted to jointly bid for the establishment of a Elon Musks Starlink comparable communication system for the German Armed Forces. The contract could be worth around ten billion euros. Rheinmetall did not comment on the information. No comment was initially available from OHB.

The Düsseldorf-based company sees the satellite business as a market of the future. Eight to ten billion euros in sales are to come from the digitalization business, which also includes satellites, the Group announced. The Düsseldorf-based company is already working with the Finnish satellite manufacturer Iceye in this area. (Reuters)

Bitterly necessary. Make Düsseldorf a space tech metropolis!

Stupid 2 weeks ago I wanted to get OHB into my portfolio. Now the entry price is too high for me. Stupid 😑

Oh man, and I'm looking for great space values all the time. Of course I saw the post too late. At least I'm with Rheinmetall 😄

@MarcoZ I am already invested at $GILT, maybe something for you too

@Tenbagger2024 I've been looking to get started at $GILT for a long time. I find it super interesting. But I would like to wait for a setback, if it comes.

$GOGO would still be an alternative, but I prefer $GILT

@Tenbagger2024 Absolutely! I've also looked into that before. Didn't you ever introduce them? They have now made the 5G breakthrough or are almost there? Undervalued and a good turnaround candidate, I think. But I'm so risk-off at the moment... I'd much prefer $GILT. Gilat announced a major order worth USD 11 million from the Asia-Pacific region just a few days ago, didn't it? That shows that the operating business is going extremely well despite the geopolitical tensions in Israel and the Middle East. But before the Kzurs? Before the quarterly figures? I'm currently so scared :-(

@schlimmschlimm
Yes, I can well understand that. I would also be undecided at the moment

@Tenbagger2024 that does look interesting, I'll take a closer look at the company. Thanks for the tip 👍🏼

@MarcoZ but wouldn't jump in after it for the time being.

@MarcoZ
$IRDM could also be interesting

Yes, of course noted, great and strong and placed on WL but there it is now well, like some others you have presented, which are all super exciting, too. At the moment I can't decide what my next investment will be? It's been like this for weeks now! All the confusion going on at the moment is making me confused. I had shortlisted three or four candidates, but haven't been able to make a decision yet. Unfortunately, that's why I didn't get involved. :-( I'm holding back the cash for now. On the one hand, the value heart of my WL candidates is screaming "buy!", on the other hand, my mind is whispering: wait until Trump and Denmark have reached an agreement and the USA has a budget again.

@schlimmschlimm
Also take a look at $IRDM

@Tenbagger2024 Oh thank you so much! I don't know them. At first glance, competition to Starlink, share buyback, rising dividends....I'll have to take a closer look. :-) Q figures will come around with Gilat....

Thank you for your daily news and your arrangement! ❤️

Just had to say it again at this point, my dear.
YOU are doing a great job.

To $OHB, it was on the watch... at least it was good there...😂

@Aktienorang-Utan
Thank you my dear.

That is nice, but who will launch them? Making sattelites is easy, putting them in space is not. This is where real bottle neck is with only few players in game, from which major ones are in US, the one from which you want to reduce relliance on. The other one, is well in US playground.. Not to mention that actual physics of such solution is ruthess. I would suggest being really really cautious with such bubbles as EU is throwing helicopter money trying to get something out of that sector, but things do not work that way. This only unfortuantly makes EU even less competitive in any way going forward.

One of the stocks that no longer makes you happy. Had been on the watchlist for a long time at €31.

$OHB unfortunately only 6% in free float and I'm also too late :D

@Investplaner
The stock market could actually be so simple. After the US space stocks did so well, it was only a matter of time for OHB. Although I introduced OHB, I also missed the entry point
