Hello getquin,

Today’s MarketNews is focused on the U.S.! 🇺🇸 There are some very interesting articles, and I’m looking forward to some exciting discussions. 🥊

America🌏:

1. Beyond Meat Announces 4% Workforce Reduction

On Thursday, Beyond Meat lowered its revenue forecast for the year and announced it would reduce its workforce by 4%, citing general economic uncertainty and consumers’ shift toward cheaper protein sources.

The El Segundo, California-based company also reported an unexpectedly large loss and weak revenue for the second quarter. The company’s stock fell 1% in after-hours trading.

2. Twitter Rejects Musk’s Claim

Twitter Inc. on Thursday rejected Elon Musk’s claims in a Delaware court proceeding that he had been misled when signing the purchase agreement for the social media company, calling them “implausible and contrary to the facts.”

Musk made these claims in a counterclaim that was filed under seal last Friday and made public on Thursday.

"According to Musk, he—the billionaire founder of several companies who was advised by Wall Street bankers and lawyers—was tricked by Twitter into signing a $44 billion merger agreement. "This story is as implausible and factually incorrect as it sounds," according to the dossier released by Twitter on Thursday.

3. Amazon Buys Roomba Maker iRobot for $1.7 Billion

Amazon, the world’s largest online retailer, is interested in acquiring iRobot, a company best known for its self-navigating Roomba vacuum cleaners. The companies announced on Friday that they had agreed on a purchase price of $61 per share.

Taking into account outstanding debt, this would value iRobot at approximately $1.7 billion (1.67 billion euros). Amazon will pay the amount in cash. However, the transaction is still subject to regulatory approval and shareholder consent.

Quarterly Results:

📦 Deutsche Post $DPW (-0,54 %)

Deutsche Post’s freight business continued to pay off in the second quarter, and the company was able to more than offset the decline in shipment volumes from residential customers—a decline attributable, among other things, to high shipping rates in its international business with corporate customers. Overall, it was the most successful quarter in the company’s history, said Melanie Kreis, Chief Financial Officer of Deutsche Post, during a conference call on Friday in Bonn. Double-digit percentage growth in revenue and profit exceeded experts’ expectations.
