The German car market is firmly in their grip due to a lack of resources and the economic impact of the war in Ukraine. According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) on Friday, new registrations in May fell by 10% to around 207,200 vehicles. Car sales had already fallen drastically in the previous two months.
"The parts availability problem is not going to go away anytime soon," an industry spokesman said. With the exception of Mercedes-Benz and Stellantis subsidiary Opel, all of Germany's major automakers reported declining sales.
