(Supposedly) Bad and Good Investments

Currently seems to be #bestworst to trend on Getquin. And since no one invites me to join this illustrious round, probably because they do not trust me such a fun (shame on you! 😘), I just participate anyway...

But I would not be the dad, if I do not expand the whole thing a bit... 😉

Worst Investment:

Currently $FTNT (-0,08 %) on the last place with -24,20% in the portfolio.

I got to know this company at work and unfortunately recognized it quite "late" as a potential candidate. Fortinet is supposed to be my international counterpart to Secunet Security, which rather covers the D-A-CH area in the EU.

Best Investment:

The $MSFT (+0,29 %) with +84,88% is currently in first place among the best investments, should not be surprising. In the meantime it was also over 100%, similar to $RDSA and my alltime favorite $ST5 (+0,16 %) were and are on the move in these spheres...

And what is still missing now?

Worst Life Choice:

Not to have married my wife earlier, so that grandma and grandpa could see how happiness became perfect (10 years unmarried with wife together). They knew you just as long, both grandparents unfortunately died shortly before the wedding.

Best Life Choice:

To have chosen life. For my son, my wife, our house.

Hello all,

as a result of the last portfolio feedback, I am looking at halving my BAT position.

This would allow me to add an equally weighted position, become less dependent on the tobacco sector and be almost completely balanced.😁⚖️

I am considering the following dividend stocks:

Abbvie, Bank of Nova Scotia, Home Depot, Shell.

Important: There is already a carry of $HD (+0,42 %) and $RDSA to this portfolio. 700€ each.

Alternative is to sell and invest in $TSLA (+0,39 %) in the tech portfolio. 😁

What do you guys think? Do you have any other ideas? 💡

Shell share: 30 euros still 2022?!

The Shell share has delivered a very solid performance in the current quarterly reporting season. The bottom line is that earnings grew and cash flow developed splendidly. In the first quarter, the British oil and natural gas group achieved a value of $14.8 billion in operating cash flow alone.

In return, there was not such strong growth in other areas. Those who were hoping for a big increase in Shell's dividend, or even an increase in share buybacks, may be disappointed. 4% more dividend is what we can take away from the quarterly figures.

Nevertheless, Shell shares are in demand and rising after the presentation of these figures. Can the share regain the 30 euro mark in no time? Yes, perhaps even in 2022.

Shell share: The market as a driver! For me, at any rate, the Shell share has a good chance of reaching this valuation level now. Perhaps to make this comparison as well: In 2018, the stock traded above this level, although Brent and WTI tended to scratch the $80 mark. This means that at the current oil price level of over 100 US dollars per barrel on average, we have even more attractive market conditions.

I would argue: more stable, too. It is true that the oil market has been volatile very often in the last decade. At the moment, however, there is a setting in which there is not even a theoretical possibility that supply and demand will meet. The shunning of Russian oil due to the Ukraine conflict, less investment in exploration in recent years and an OPEC+ at the limit are fundamental limits. Therefore, we can assume that the oil price has a downside limit.

Even if we assumed that the oil market would plunge 20% or 30%, we would still be at about 2018 levels. But there is just a limit to the downside. For me, this is a very good perspective, which is why Shell shares can climb above 30 euros. Simply because the oil market is so stuck in terms of the supply and demand situation. Even minor, temporary dampers such as a partial shutdown in China have made no difference to the level.

As of today, among others, Shell PLC ($RDSA), 3M Company ($MMM (-0,13 %)) and Yum! Brands Inc. ($YUM (+0,33 %)) are trading ex-dividend.

𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 🏛️

NVIDIA ($NVDA (+0,26 %)) - The chip company delivered quarterly results yesterday. Revenue rose 53 percent to just over $7.6 billion (€6.7 billion) in the fourth fiscal quarter ended in late January. The bottom line was the profit of three billion dollars even slightly more than twice as high as in the same quarter last year. For the current quarter, NVIDIA held out the prospect of a further increase in sales to 8.1 billion dollars - while analysts had rather expected around 7.3 billion dollars.

Commerzbank ($CBK (-3,12 %)) - The bank posted a profit of 430 million euros in 2021, compared with a loss of 2.9 billion in the prior-year period. Operating profit was 1.18 billion euros, after the bank had posted a loss of 233 million euros in the previous year. Commerzbank CEO Manfred Knof said: "2022 will be a decisive year in the implementation of our strategy," "We want to build on last year's successful customer business and increase consolidated profit to more than 1 billion euros."

EU - Payments with cryptocurrencies should no longer be anonymous even from one cent, EU Parliament committees demand. Unlike the EU Commission, relevant committees of the EU Parliament do not want any exceptions to apply to the identification requirement for crypto transactions. The EU Commission had proposed an exemption limit of 1,000 euros. The background to all the considerations is a package of regulations proposed by the EU Commission last summer. Like the German Crypto Transfers Ordinance (KryptoTransferV), which Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) proposed while still Finance Minister at the time, the EU regulation essentially deals with crypto service providers. When buying and selling crypto-assets, they are supposed to collect the data of the persons involved, keep it and transfer it to an authority upon request. According to the expectations of the politicians, this should result in transparent traceability, which should take into account the state's interests in fighting crime.
