Rock Tech on funding list - EU Commission wants to support Guben-based lithium company Rock Tech

The EU Commission wants to support the company Rock Tech, which produces lithium hydroxide in Guben
in Guben with its project. The company is part of a list of 47 companies that are to be supported by the EU through various measures.

A total of two billion euros is said to be available. However, because many projects have already been secured by private donors, financial support is not necessary in all cases, according to the Commission. How the financial contributions are to be distributed among the individual companies initially remained unclear.

Simplified approval procedures

The companies should also benefit from simplified approval procedures initiated by the Commission. For processing sites such as Rock Tech, a maximum of one year and three months is now set for the procedure. Previously, the approval period for such projects was ten years, said EU Industry Commissioner Stéphane Séjourné on Tuesday in Brussels.

"We need to increase our own production, diversify our external supply and build up stocks," said Séjourné. The EU wants to extract at least ten percent of raw materials on its own territory by 2030 and process at least 40 percent of the required materials itself.
