Unfortunately, mine buys pointless $SBUX shares. With Botox she would at least have an advantage over me. Fun, love my wife. :)

I thought people currently have too little money because of high inflation?

@Alumdria As a Swiss citizen, tell me, is your economy really on fire right now because of the currency?
I recently received an e-mail from a Swiss customer who would like to sell the machine they bought 4 years ago back to us because the production of, let's say, 0815 lenses/watch glasses in CH is no longer worthwhile.
That gave me a bit of a fright 😵‍💫

@GeldGenie maybe your opinion ✌️

@Dividenden_Monteur We currently only have inflation of 0.2%. Perhaps many Swiss people are panicking at the moment because of Trump's high punitive tariffs. If he is an entrepreneur who produces in Switzerland, he may be thinking about manufacturing abroad. Many Swiss companies are now setting up a plant either in an EU country where the punitive tariffs are not so high or in the USA. I think it's ridiculous because Trump won't be president forever.

@Alumdria little money?
So not where I hang out.
Restaurants = full
Flights = full

Since people don't build houses anymore, they spend their money on more expensive products - to feel good!
In my opinion, the money has to go somewhere.
Everyone always complains. There is no such thing as "little money". The priorities are just changing.

@Investment4Life It's the same here in Switzerland. Zurich Airport has just set a record with the most passengers. And yet we still complain a lot because everything is getting more and more expensive. But people prefer to live from month to month, lease an expensive car or take out a loan for vacations with no idea how high the interest rates are. And you also have to buy the latest clothes and shoes every month. But yes, the main thing is that you can moan when your health insurance or rent goes up again 🤡🤡

@Alumdria That's exactly how it is 😅

Best regards to Zurich!

@Dividenden_Monteur Sorry, didn't see the day.

The overall economy is still doing well so far. Inflation very low, as already mentioned, real GDP per capita still rising, i.e. very high value added due to the distribution of sectors in Switzerland.

However, there are sector-specific problems. The strong CHF, import duties, the EU as a "weakening" partner, external financing of consumption... I can imagine that glass production in Switzerland is less profitable. SCHOTT, for example, has R&D and other cost centers in Switzerland, but a lot of production close to the customers (whether in Switzerland, the USA or Latin America - that's how they stay efficient).
Certain industries such as milk processing in the upper price range and large-scale operations don't mind at all. 1kg. Cheese full cost is about 20.-, selling price in the USA at ~ 40.-.

Soooo summarized: The Swiss like to moan & historically we hardly know any major economic hurdles. So unfortunately not everyone is quite ready for it. Low-margin sectors or companies in particular will have to put employees on short-time working. However, I also believe that the USA will adjust its tariffs again in the short or long term - and that Switzerland should/can even benefit from the short phase of higher tariffs.

@GeldGenie Exactly what I thought, complaining at a high level.

Stop with schott, I get an itch every time I drive into Yverdon 😵‍💫

@Dividenden_Monteur Approximately, but definitely justified for some. 😊 Not all in the same pot and all that.

Why is that? 😂

@GeldGenie I was at the Gamescom in Cologne last week and there were a lot of homeless people. But I always put the cans and pet bottles on or near the garbage cans because I knew that the homeless people were collecting deposit bottles and I didn't want them to have to search around in the nasty garbage cans. I think the deposit system is generally a good idea. It also motivates people to recycle. And I've always given a few cents to the beggars. I'm not doing too badly, so I'm happy to give some of it away. Always be grateful for what you have and be humble. Things can change so quickly🙏
