Companies like Agility Robotics, $AMZN (+0,37 %) Amazon, Figure AI, $BMW (+0,07 %) BMW, $TSLA (+0,6 %) Tesla, Clone Alpha and Unitree are driving development forward at full speed. What was once science fiction is developing rapidly, just like the smartphone. First a luxury product, now a mass-produced item. Robots could have the same effect. They are becoming cheaper, more efficient and, thanks to swarm intelligence, one model learns for all. This promises enormous productivity, but also makes a global loss of control possible if an error or misuse gets into the system.
The military temptation is unmistakable. At first glance, machines without fear, compassion or fatigue seem like perfect soldiers. But sooner or later, every military technology finds its way into the civilian world and radically changes societies. Job losses, security risks, concentration of power and dependencies are the logical consequences.
Takeaway
It is only a small step from data to dystopia if we do not shape this process. The crucial question is no longer whether humanoid robots will come, but under whose control and at what price they will be integrated into our everyday lives.
