I’m putting 3% into Shionogi, a profitable Japanese pharma company with a strong focus on infectious diseases and antibiotics.
My thesis: AMR will become an increasingly serious problem, while I also see a possibility of a larger plague outbreak in the future. I’m not betting on a pandemic happening, but I want exposure to a company that is preparing for exactly these kinds of threats.
Shionogi’s Fetroja is already being developed against Yersinia pestis (plague) with U.S. government/BARDA support, alongside its broader antimicrobial-resistance strategy.
On top of that: growing dividend, strong existing business and a long history of dividend increases.
Quality pharma + AMR + pandemic preparedness + potential plague upside. 💊🦠🇯🇵
