New ETFs from Vanguard Global All-Cap and Global Small-Cap

Hi, Vanguard has now launched a global all-cap ETF $VALU (+0,09 %) (similar to the MSCI ACWI IMI) that invests in 10,000 stocks and has a TER of just 0.07% (half that of the All-World fund). They’ve also launched a global small-cap index $VSMU (-0,13 %) with a 0.22% TER. There wasn’t a comparable index for the second one yet, was there? I only know of the MSCI World Small-Cap, which invests in developed markets.

Cool, thanks for the info.

When you think about how much the older generation used to pay in fees for (often poorly performing) bank funds—things have definitely changed for the better. That's good.

Nice. It's already available on Scalable and Trade Republic. I'm going to give it a try today—just to test the waters for now, but with "Game in the Skin," as I like to say. :)

Regarding the costs—whether 0.07% or 0.2%, as with the previous standard MSCI World ETFs:
After several years, the difference is far less noticeable than, for example, between a 0.2% and 0.5% or even 1% TER (which is the statutory standard upper limit for the new retirement savings account).

...Its global diversification is, of course, perfect.
However, due to the standard market-cap weighting, small-caps account for only up to about 10%. This means you cannot capture a small-cap factor premium with it, as Gerd Kommer does, for example.
(To do that, the small-cap allocation would need to be at least 10–20%.)

But one could still specifically target and achieve a small-cap factor premium by adding an additional small-cap ETF.... This ETF is ideal as a neutral starting point for that!
