Bloomberg explores how top athletes like Erling Haaland are tapping into a lucrative new market by carrying luxury handbags 👜

that could provide the struggling fashion industry with a much-needed financial boost. Haaland is particularly known for his impressive collection of large Hermès bags—especially the Haut à Courroies (HAC) model—with individual pieces costing around $50,000 and his entire collection estimated to be worth over $300,000. By confidently using traditional European craftsmanship as status symbols in their everyday lives, these athletes are not only breaking down traditional gender norms but also opening up a male target audience with enormous purchasing power to luxury brands, thereby securing their future growth. $LVMH

Is he just carrying that around, or what's he putting in there?
I honestly couldn't imagine what I'd ever need something like that for.

That's really interesting—I never would have thought that handbags could become status symbols for men... It just goes to show once again that traditional rules and clichés don't always hold true anymore.

It’s a completely foreign world to me. I just can’t wrap my head around the idea that someone could spend 60k on a handbag—pretty much the most useless thing in the world. Even back when influencers were spending 600–2,000k on them, I was shocked. But this is on a whole new level. Then again, I’m no pro soccer player. Let him treat himself. He can afford it, after all.

That looks kind of uncomfortable... like when you're carrying your groceries home from Lidl!

I don't get why nobody here on an investing platform seems to understand this. You can't just buy that bag. You could consider it an investment. What do you guys think people will pay for something like that down the road… though Erling is paying for it out of his own pocket and it's probably just a whim of his

I'll buy two and be broke—and then my retirement will consist of collecting returnable bottles. Sounds like a good deal 😎

I only have a Moose Knuckles crossbody bag for €150! It’s handy in the summer when you’re wearing shorts with small pockets! I can fit my phone and wallet in the crossbody bag—it works perfectly! But a handbag for 50k? No thanks 😂 Although I know some women who’ve been waiting for a Hermès Birkin for years—those cost around 30–50k too 🤯
