Well, I'm not particularly representative, as women my age run away from me screaming, but when I've had the chance, it was just when getting to know usos that I - the man - paid the bill, because I'm still oldschool in some relationships. That includes paying for dinner.
If it had ever become a bit more than that, I would always advocate a healthy mix. Sometimes one person pays, sometimes the other and of course: everyone has their own separate account and payments are made from a separate account for what you have together. This doesn't stop at the apartment and its rent/rate.

•@StrahlemannLP yes exactly give and take otherwise no relationship works. Maybe it just doesn't have to be strictly 50:50 depending on the situation according to merit.

@Esperanza Well, if you want to avoid one person always feeling like the payer, then in my opinion there should always be a healthy mix, at least when it comes to luxury expenses. In the case of rent/rate, this can be based on the income ratio or you can agree that one person pays for the groceries and the other pays for the luxury products, while the basic costs are parity/parity.
Apart from the fact that I've always made sure that the other person feels comfortable in their job and earns good money. Then, in my opinion, such discussions take care of themselves.

•@StrahlemannLP What are luxury products?
••
@Esperanza everything you don't necessarily need to live. Alcohol, cigarettes, chocolate, premium food, movie tickets, restaurant visits, concert tickets, LEGO sets...to name just a handful.

@StrahlemannLP Yes, I would always have luxury items deducted from my own account. Another reason why I would use the three-account model is that I sometimes disagree with some expenses, e.g. 700 euros for glasses. I think it's totally OK otherwise so orientation income ratio for basic costs and the rest sometimes so sometimes so pay 👍🏻
