Construction Begins on New Factory in Örnsköldsvik, Nordea Raises Price Target

$KIT (+1,96 %)

Today, October 1, 2026, Nordea raised its price target for Kitron from 115 to 120 NOK and reaffirmed its previous “Buy” recommendation.

For my 586 Kitron shares , this is certainly relevant, though I would view it as positive analyst-driven development rather than a fundamental corporate announcement.

Even more important: Kitron’s fundamental story

The analyst upgrade comes against the backdrop of a series of very strong corporate announcements:

  • August 24: 2026 forecast raised: Revenue now €1.05–1.15 billion, EBIT €97–112 million.
  • Aug. 25: New production facility in Longum, specifically to meet rising defense demand.
  • Sept. 1: New factory in Horsensto meet expected growth from existing and new customers. The facility is expected to cover 8,850 m²; the workforce in Denmark is projected to grow from around 150 to approximately 250 employees at full capacity.
  • September 15: Share buyback program of up to 10,000 shares or a maximum of 950,000 NOK in connection with executive compensation.

And the next truly important date is already on Oct. 22, 2026: Q3 results.

🟢 Kitron (KIT): Construction begins on the new factory in Örnsköldsvik

Kitron has begun construction of the new production facility in Gålnäs near Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, earlier than originally planned. Construction was originally scheduled to begin in early 2027.

Kitron beginnt mit dem Bau einer neuen Fabrik in Örnsköldsvik

Key figures:

  • 7,300 m² of additional production space
  • Capacity for larger-scale production runs and broader product lines
  • Key driver: Rising demand from defense sector customers
  • The number of employees in Örnsköldsvik is expected to rise from approximately 120 to over 300
  • The new factory is expected to roughly double
  • Kitron will own the property itself in the future.

Why I think this news is important for my 586 KIT

The key point for me is not the construction of the factory itself, but the signal behind it:

Demand → capacity expansion → larger defense programs

Kitron explicitly states that the investment is driven by growing demand from customers in defense-related industries . The new factory is intended to enable Kitron to take on larger programs in the Nordic region.

This fits a pattern that is already becoming apparent:

August: 2026 forecast raised.

August: New production facility in Longum due to rising defense demand.

September: New factory in Horsens announced.

September 29: Construction begins in Örnsköldsvik earlier than planned.

This means it is no longer just a single capacity expansion.

Of particular interest for Depot 2036,

Kitron is thus increasingly becoming a European beneficiary of the defense investment cycle’s manufacturing infrastructure.

And Örnsköldsvik is strategically important because, with Kitron Eltech is home to the former DeltaNordic business. Kitron had already pointed out in Q1 that this business accounts for approximately 50% defense revenue and that the new factory is set to double capacity in Örnsköldsvik.

🔥 My take for the Portfolio News Check

I would definitely categorize this news under:

“High Relevance – KIT: Capacity Expansion Due to Rising Defense Demand”

.

And even more importantly: It should be viewed in conjunction with the raised 2026 forecast. This paints a much stronger picture than an isolated analyst price target increase.

The Kitron position of 586 shares is thus currently among the holdings in which the fundamental story is being supported by concrete investments in additional production capacity is visibly advancing.

Next major test:
October 22, 2026 – Kitron’s Q3 results.
