$UBI (+0,78 %) goes steep....

If the latest reports on the Internet are true, Tencent and the Guillemot family are interested in taking over or privatizing Ubisoft.

"Tencent Holdings Ltd. and Ubisoft Entertainment SA's founding Guillemot family are considering a possible takeover of the French video game developer after it lost more than half its market value this year, according to people familiar with the matter," Bloomberg reports.

Tencent and the Guillemot family are also reportedly considering taking Ubisoft private. According to Bloomberg, Tencent and the Guillemot family are also considering other options. Spokespeople for Ubisoft and the Guillemot family declined to comment to Bloomberg. A Tencent representative was unable to comment while on vacation in China.

Great news.
Tencent will fire a big part of the staff, cut the bullshit jobs, and replace all that with their own domestics teams which will deliver better products for sure with a better management and less 🍆 rubbing.

It would also be nice if there were new games and not just the 10th AC and FC in different environments. They've just been far too lazy and greedy in recent years

@Johann_van_der_Smut They tried new games look ( I will limit to big budget prod, because there's a metric ton of mobile games and Just dance stuff ) in the last 2 years :

- Star Wars Outlaws ( 2024 ) -> Dogshit
- XDefiant (2024 ) -> Dogshit
- Skull and Bones ( 2024 ) -> Dogshit
- Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown ( 2024 ) -> Good but small IP nowadays, little to no leverage
- Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora ( 2024 ) -> Meh ( farcry on Pandora )
- Assassin's Creed Mirage ( 2023 ) -> Actually good
- The Crew Motorfest ( 2023 ) -> Good
- The Settlers: New Allies ( 2023 ) -> Mid at best

@Jo_Wolf most of those games are good enough, ubi just has an excess spending compared to any other AAA studio. Bad management and too many employees doing nothing of value

@Jo_Wolf you may be right. I just played Assassins creed and far cry and the last few were more or less all the same. No real innovations. And i still don‘t understand why there are no new games like uncharted or tomb raider (i know different company) or a new ghost recon…

@Johann_van_der_Smut The last Ghost recon ( Frontline ) got cancelled mid 2022 because the proposed beta was an awful mess and looked nothing like Ghost recon.

but yeah, we could advocate that Splinter Cell disappeared for example. But we really want modern Ubisoft to ruin again another franchise ? Not sure
Imagen de perfil
@Jo_Wolf so they fucked up their own ghost recon development and that‘s why they stomped it?
