The Secret Winner

While many are trying their luck—or failing—with SpaceX and tech stocks, a “boring” stock is quietly and steadily climbing higher and higher: $ALV (-1,18 %)

It’s already up over 12.5% since the start of the year and a whopping 23.6% over the past year, plus a substantial dividend of EUR 17.10—and likely around EUR 20 per share next year.

“Buy and hold” may be boring. But when you’ve seen an 115% increase in share price and your personal dividend yield has reached 10%, patience is certainly rewarded.

So true, and it's a shame I only bought 7 back then 😞

My personal dividend yield is now at 29%💪

@Stefania That's a lot—I'll have to do the math for myself, too. I bought 76 of them 3 years ago for 176 €.

It’s also true that:
From 2007 to 2017, returns were flat at 0% with share prices ranging from 160 to 180 euros.
There were dividends back then, too.
Important:
The last few months—or rather, the last 2–3 years—do not reflect the future!

@Smudeo The same can be said about the market as a whole👍🏼

I treated myself to 40 of them about two years ago. That's a 66.6 percent gain 🍻

Do you really think they'll raise the dividend by such a large amount again next year?
I'd be a bit more cautious about that and expect an increase to €18.5–19.

@SSIT The banks' current estimates already range between EUR 19.86 and EUR 21.36.
In 2024, the figure was 13.80.
In 2025, it was already 15.40.
This year, it is 17.10.
As for the operating figures, I’m predicting well over 20.00 for the coming year

What do you think—will there be another setback?

@spellwan Of course, the stock will also correct. However, it's always difficult to time the entry point just right.
The best approach is a savings plan—that's how you get the best returns over the long term.

This stock can't be boring, since it's still performing well and paying a decent dividend. :)

I agree wholeheartedly. I've had it in my portfolio for many years and most recently bought more when Nord Stream was blown up in 2022. My current dividend yield is somewhere between 11% and 12%. Who's going to complain about that? 😄

Next week, we're off on our Allianz family vacation 😉🫠 to Greece
👍 Definitely a stock that’s twice the fun. Dividend yield when things aren’t going so well, and price appreciation. A boring 24%
That's exactly right!
