I bet all of you know the BIC lighter and the BIC pen (best pen ever!), but did you know that you can also invest in the company? I actually didn't know until a few days ago and thought I'd share the BIC story with you.

BIC's story began in 1945 when entrepreneur Marcel Bich founded the company with his business partner Edouard Buffard in France. Initially, BIC focused on manufacturing inkwells and ballpoint pens. However, the breakthrough came in 1973 when BIC launched the world-famous disposable lighter.

Interestingly, BIC was also active in other areas. Until 2018, BIC produced surfboards as well as other recreational products such as kayaks and sailboats under the BIC Sports brand.

Today, BIC is a multinational corporation that encompasses several product lines, including stationery, lighters, razors, office supplies, and disposable razors. The company is known worldwide and is represented in over 160 countries.

Did you know the history of $BB (-3,65 %) and would you invest in the company?

Interesting, thank you, but for me there is no investment, because I don't see any moat in something like this, except the "name", and because cigarettes will probably no longer exist in the future and cheap plastic pens may even be banned, like plastic straws. I see absolutely no potential in the company. Maybe it will even be bankrupt in 20 years.

@Gerit I definitely agree with you there. For me personally it would also be no investment :)

Nasty chart, poor dividend history, replaceable products. Interesting to know this is an AG, but definitely not an investment for me.
