🛢️⚡ORLEN launches a new HVO plant in Płock

ORLEN $PKN (-1,38 %) has officially launched its new HVO ( Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil ) installation in Płock!

This modern plant can produce 300,000 tons per year of advanced biofuels (renewable diesel/HVO) from rapeseed oil and used cooking oil. Built at a cost of over 800 million PLN, it is now operational.

Production has already started and the first output is going to the Polish market.

This new plant will boosts ORLEN’s total biofuels capacity to ~700,000 tons/year ( the company have a target of 1.1 million tons by 2030).

This is a solid execution win for ORLEN’s energy transition. The plant is already generating revenue and profits from Q2 2026 onwards by producing biocomponents in-house instead of buying them expensively. It protects refining margins and lowers regulatory risks.

Despite the higher-than-planned cost, this strengthens the downstream business and adds stability amid oil price swings and carbon rules.
