Allegro Q3

One of my physical-AI metrics $ALGM (-5,38 %) released its financial results today. Without precise sensors, there’s no edge AI. But hardly anyone will have this company on their radar.

🟢 PRO: Why the stock is rising

  • Explosive profit surge (GAAP leverage):
  • Diluted GAAP earnings per share (EPS) quadrupled from $0.03 to $0.12.
  • The GAAP operating margin jumped dramatically from 2.9% to 12.8% . This shows that growth is extremely profitably scalable.
  • The AI data center boost:
  • The Industrial and Othersegment, which includes server and data center products, skyrocketed year-over-year by 78.6% year-over-year to $104.4 million (previous year: $58.4 million).
  • Sales of power supply and cooling chips for AI data centers reached a new all-time high.
  • Strong leading indicators (design wins & bookings):
  • The company recorded the highest volume of new business awards (design wins) since its 2020 IPO (+40% year-over-year).
  • Bookings rose sequentially for the eighth consecutive quarter.
  • Strong Balance Sheet:
  • Immediately after the end of the quarter, an additional $25 million in debt was voluntarily repaid, supported by strong free cash flow generation.
  • Excellent outlook:
  • Revenue growth of 23% is forecast for the next quarter. Non-GAAP earnings are expected to be in the middle of the range, around 80% .

🔴 CONS: Where the Risks Lie

  • Dependence on the traditional automotive market:
  • Although growth is solid at 10.7% to $172.5 million, the automotive segment still accounts for 62% of total revenue .
  • Should the global downturn in the automotive industry or the slump in electric vehicles (EVs) have a more drastic impact, Allegro is vulnerable here.
  • Significant discrepancy between GAAP and non-GAAP:
  • Non-GAAP EPS, at $0.26, is significantly higher than GAAP EPS ($0.12). The adjustments distort the actual net income.
  • Lack of transparency in the outlook:
  • In the report, management refuses to provide a reconciliation for the upcoming GAAP outlook, stating that future one-time items are “difficult to predict.” This lack of transparency is a concern for very conservative analysts.

Hi, I'm in too :) I got into this when I was looking into robotics. What other stocks do you have in this sector or on your watchlist? I still have these on my watchlist: $6268 and $6324

@Sebbster I think there's a lot of potential in Japan. Strangely enough, though, I haven't really looked into it much yet. Basically, I have the entire value chain in my portfolio.
$MPWR, power management $LSCC , security layer/low-power FPGAs$BESI, hybrid bonding/packaging$AMBA, vision/cameras $RMBS , IP/bandwidth $ALGM , sensor technology

@Sebbster Theoretically, I also have $SYM on my watchlist. I find it interesting as well, especially now that they've acquired the patented technology from the Bremen-based startup.

@Dirty30 That's great, thanks :) Where do you see some good entry-level opportunities right now? Maybe at $RMBS?

@Sebbster whenever the stock price is near the 200-week moving average. Currently, these are Ambarella, Allegro, Besi, and Rambus.
