Infrastructure package = sleight of hand?

You have to ask yourself this question by now. The day before yesterday I saw a very interesting report about road construction in Germany and whether the infrastructure package has made a difference and whether the effects are being felt.

This is not the case! Not a single new project has been financed from this package.

The CEO of $STR (+1,37 %) who gave a lengthy interview in the report, stated that so far funds have simply been taken out of the Ministry of Transport's normal budget and redistributed, and the gaps have been filled with money from the infrastructure package. This means that a large proportion of the billions will probably flow into projects that are already planned anyway and there will not be a booster.

It can therefore be assumed that the impact on the economy will be much smaller than initially assumed and that it will not be reflected as strongly in corporate balance sheets.

Yep, that's what it looks like. I've also read / seen a few reports on this. The actual (core) budget is being embellished by debt. It could have actually helped us move forward ... but unfortunately it's another wasted opportunity.

I come from the highway infrastructure sector. What can I tell you Jung? It's a pure joke with this billion-euro borrowing, which is not being pumped directly into the infrastructure sector.
Germany can no longer cope, it is in its own stranglehold of political incompetence, bureaucracy, corruption and the unwillingness of the parties to jump over their shadows and plan for the next 15 years instead of just 4 years.

Whereby it should not only be reflected in corporate balance sheets, but also in visible stresses, railways, housing, digital infrastructure, etc.! We will get up at some point, look at ourselves, and the billions are all gone...and nobody knows what for. simply consumed away!

I believe that immediately. I'm not from the infrastructure sector, but from building construction, but it's the same everywhere.

Often it's not even the lack of money, but the lame bureaucracy that gets its knickers in a twist. Just don't do anything wrong and possibly be criticized later. It's better to do nothing - then you're on the safe side and the regular promotion will come.

Example 1: For 4(!) years I have been working on a plot of land on which 2 detached houses and a semi-detached house could be built. I want it, the people want it, the municipality wants it, the city council wants it. But the district authority doesn't want it with abstruse justifications. Among other things, the traffic noise from the internal garage access road (for 4 families!) disturbs the neighboring property, which is a supermarket with a supermarket parking lot and 50 parking spaces!!!! It's impossible to imagine.

Example 2: I'm currently dividing up an apartment building. Two new apartments could easily be created in the huge attic. But: the listed building authority rejects it before there is even a planning proposal. The argument is that they don't want any windows in the roof area, even if they wouldn't be visible from the street (the best thing is that there are already windows in there and they've been there for 50 years). You can book appointments with the fire department, but they don't come because they don't have time. The licensing authority, on the other hand, says you don't even need to start talking without a statement on fire protection.

Conclusion: Everything with 'construction turbo' or 'we are really cranking up housing construction now' is just BULLSHIT! Politicians talk, the administration blocks everything.
