I've also been with Shell since 2017, when the share collapsed to €10 in the corona crash, I had no cojones to buy more.

Since there is still €900 in the loss pot and I wanted to further reduce the oil sector, I also sold this position completely.

In the oil sector I am now only invested in Chevron and Exxon.

Now 12k cash have become free.

Let's see if I buy more or wait for the US election

Save in a World Homer ETF?
I've read that they're doing quite well. 🚀

Why sell Shell and hold Chevron / Exxon? The US withholding tax is certainly a factor with the other two. Not for Shell as a GB share... Would be more dividends for Homer...

BP as well...

And you certainly have enough US shares. I would be happy if you could justify that. Thank you

@gamlasvensk The oil sector is just not performing at all compared to other sectors, take a look at BP and see what price gains I have after 7 years 😂 Shell looked a little better.

And as far as withholding tax is concerned, with around €6000 in dividends per year, I paid 25% tax plus solidarity surcharge for both BP and Shell. I actually pay less for US shares because the solidarity surcharge is only paid on 10%.

@Simpson Thank you... I had a look, but SC also shows 25% capital gains & solidarity tax for US stocks. Plus the US withholding tax.

Hmm, well, that will be correct. Shell has a great performance for me, but I also bought it during Corona

The loss pot would have lasted even longer, wouldn't it?
