Rheinmetall, Germany's largest armaments group, wants to hire massive numbers of people. "We want to hire several thousand people worldwide every year in order to realise our growth," Group CEO Armin Papperger told the Handelsblatt. In Germany alone, about 1000 jobs will be created this year. According to the Rheinmetall boss, 700 of these have already been filled.
There are currently just under 1,300 vacancies on the company's careers page, up from 750 in June 2021. More than 900 jobs are now available in Germany, most of them in Unterluess, Kassel and Bremen.

The German car market is firmly in their grip due to a lack of resources and the economic impact of the war in Ukraine. As the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) announced on Friday, new registrations fell by 10 % in May to around 207,200 vehicles. Car sales had already fallen drastically in the previous two months.
"The parts availability problem is not going to go away anytime soon," an industry spokesman said. With the exception of Mercedes-Benz and the Stellantis subsidiary Opel, all the major German carmakers recorded declines in sales.
