Who are you?
I am Vincent, 22 years old and have lived in Bremen all my life. After graduating from college, I started an apprenticeship as a merchant in wholesale and foreign trade, which I will complete in June 2021. Afterwards, I will study online marketing via distance learning. I started my Instagram page on the topic of cryptocurrencies (krypto_onlinede) in August 2020. My goal with it is to make it easier for beginners to enter the world of cryptocurrencies. There are unfortunately still a lot of scammers in the crypto space, so I'm providing a place to go for open questions while sharing the knowledge I've acquired.
When it's not Corona, I love to play table tennis a lot (since I was seven years old). For several years I worked as a children and youth coach. Currently, however, I am even more involved with various crypto areas and technical analysis.
Fun Fact: From 2012-2015 I participated in 13 competitions in speedcubing (solving different types of Rubik's cubes for time). My best individual time on the regular 3x3 Rubik's Cube was 10.23 seconds.
When did you start investing?
Getting involved with investments started in mid/late 2019. I had a small savings account, which I had never touched until that point. I really wanted to invest the money and not leave it in the savings account anymore, due to inflation. Pretty quickly I came across cryptocurrencies and especially Bitcoin.
Very quickly I was excited about Bitcoin and the concept, as well as the technology behind it. Bitcoin tries to solve the problem, which is why I had been looking for investment opportunities in the first place. Inflation is a problem for savers. With fiat currencies, like the Euro, investors are permanently losing purchasing power. If I save my money in Bitcoin, it becomes worth more in the long run. Not just because, Elon Musk is having fun on Twitter again, but because of the limited amount of Bitcoins in circulation and the creation rate that regularly halves.
I also have a small portion of my portfolio invested in stocks, however, I have felt more comfortable investing in cryptocurrencies. I deal with the topic a lot on a daily basis and therefore get to see when something new happens in the market.
What is your investment strategy?
I made a conscious decision to invest in a very volatile market with huge growth potential. I am still very young and can go through several bear markets without worrying about my deposits.
Basically my strategy is to "buy & hold". With a small part of my portfolio, I invest small amounts in cryptocurrencies with very low market caps. However, I do not hold these for a long time, but I use them to speculate on a better development than that of Bitcoin in the short term.
What is your secret tip or a sector/stock that you currently like?
Blockchain in general. In 10 years, our everyday life will be shaped and changed by blockchains. In 20 years at the latest, we can no longer imagine a world without blockchains. Companies will completely transform business relationships and make better use of the digitized world for themselves. Technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and also artificial intelligence will be increasingly integrated into blockchains. Not only cryptocurrencies will profit extremely, but also the companies that research blockchain technology particularly early and learn to use it for themselves.
What was your biggest investment blunder?
I haven't had a real mistake yet. Since I got into cryptocurrencies, however, almost every project has developed well. Anyone who "only" made a 200% profit with crypto last year is annoyed today because they have the feeling that they missed out on something.
At this point, I can only warn not to invest in small altcoins rashly and without research. At least not if a total loss is to be avoided. There are many scammers and a lot of manipulation. For example, don't buy an altcoin just because it was recommended to you on Twitter or Instagram. Many people are only interested in exploiting their reach to hype certain projects they are invested in and then dump the market. The smaller the token/coin, the easier manipulation is. Educate yourself about a project, the meaning behind the cryptocurrency, the team behind it, the funding of the project, and the goals. Many small projects will not survive the next bear market.
