So is it now the official day where you have to have them in the depot and at least 10 yes? Thank you for your contribution!!!(:

Who else is getting in at short notice?
I'm still thinking about topping up again...

@fizzelfritz unfortunately I bought a few days ago for just under 47, will now increase again.

@fizzelfritz I also went in again at 43.

Stupid question, but does TR check whether a dividend is tax-free or not?
image de profil
@jkbsmn92 Yes. In the case of dividends that originate from certain reserves (e.g. share premium reserves), your broker will recognize these as tax-free (example: $DTE, which distributed its dividend tax-free in 2024).

So TR takes over the tax behind the bonus shares and you don't have to actively trade?
image de profil
@IDtodal The shares are tax-free.
Did I understand correctly that if I hold 10 BYD shares, I get 8 of them for free? That would mean an 80% return in a few days. And does this only apply once or for every 10 shares I hold? So with 10 shares I get 8 as a gift and with
16 for 20 shares?

@Morizon72 Please read the article again properly...
The share price will be adjusted. And it applies to every 10-pack of shares.

@Morizon72 it will ultimately be like a stock split, so it won't be an 80% return, you'll probably just get the dividend and more shares with a lower value

@DiviMike Sorry, but the name is always ambiguous. They are not "bonus shares" because it is simply a stock split 😅

@user03 BYD itself uses the term Bonus Shares 🤷🏼‍♂️
image de profil
@user03 In addition, a split would not result in any tax charges. In the case of bonus shares, on the other hand, there will certainly be a tax charge.

@DiviMike in theory they are bonus shares, but due to the principle of supply and demand it will behave like a stock split because the supply increases but the demand remains the same, so the price of the shares decreases, that's why I don't think anything of it, it's a stock split where you have to pay tax on part of your position.
image de profil
@Wravo The taxation is to be absorbed by the cash dividend.
image de profil
@Wravo For example, if you now have 6 shares, do you have a disadvantage if you don't increase to 10 shares? Do you have an advantage if you do? I would appreciate your personal assessment @DiviMike

@ngoog Im also interested in this particular question, i have 3 shares and thinking about increasing the possition to 10. But not sure if it will be an advantage or its better to wait and increase later....Btw im in Trade Republic and not sure how it will work in this broker and if we are on time to buy more ¿Did u know?

@Lanre As this post mentioned, if you want to have the bonus shares etc. you need to have at least 10 shares by the 10th of June, but I read on multiple sources already, that it also takes time to have it officially in your portfolio to be recognized for the program. So some people are saying you should buy latest 2nd/3rd of June to be safe. Just what I heard and read, no liability.

Why is it not possible to buy a smaller number of $1211 shares at Swissquote?

@Goffytbd It works on a German stock exchange.
