Are investors discovering a biotech pearl?

Hello my dears,

Due to the increasing momentum, I have taken a closer look at Amicus $FOLD under the microscope for you.

When looking at the key figures, I asked myself

" Why is momentum only now emerging? "

Because the multiples are pleasing. An increase in net profit of 1,439.97 % is not something you see every day. It's great to see how free cash flow and the EBIT margin will increase over the next few years.

And the P/E ratio for 2027 falls to 18.4.

My dears, you have to look several times to see that.

What do you think

" Is the momentum continuing and has the pearl been discovered?" ????

I look forward to everyone's views in the comments.

Amicus Therapeutics, Inc. is a biotechnology company focused on the discovery, development and delivery of novel drugs for rare diseases. Its two marketed therapies are Galafold, the first orally administered monotherapy for people with Fabry disease who have susceptible genetic variants, and Pombiliti + Opfolda, a novel treatment to enhance uptake of the active enzyme into key disease-relevant tissues for adults suffering from late-stage Pompe disease. As an orally administered monotherapy, Galafold is designed to bind to and stabilize an endogenous alpha-galactosidase A (alpha-gal A) enzyme in patients with genetic variants identified as amenable in a Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) cell-based amenability test. Pombiliti + Opfolda consists of a uniquely designed rhGAA enzyme, cipaglucosidase alfa-atga, with an optimized carbohydrate structure to enhance lysosomal uptake, administered in combination with miglustat, which acts as an enzyme stabilizer.

Overview of Pompe disease

Late-onset Pompe disease is a rare, inherited genetic disorder caused by a mutation in the GAA gene and a deficiency in the enzyme α-glucosidase.

~5,000-10,000 people diagnosed worldwide

  • Respiratory failure is a major cause of mortality.
  • GAA deficiency leading to lysosomal glycogen accumulation and cell dysfunction
  • Symptoms include systemic muscle weakness that worsens over time
  • Significantly underdiagnosed
  • ~$1.5 billion+ in global Pompe-ERT sales

Global Pompe Market

  • Growth in the global Pompe disease market continues to be driven by the diagnosis of new patients.
  • Global Pompe market of approximately $1.5 billion in 2024 and expected to exceed $2 billion by 2029
  • More than 4,000 Pompe patients are estimated to be treated with ERT3 worldwide

Pombiliti + Opfolda Profile The only two-component therapy for the treatment of Pompe disease

Phase 3 PROPEL study showed average improvement in 6MWD and stabilization of FVC in patients switching from standard therapy.

I think it's great that they have a drug for Fabry disease on the market, but I'm already betting on the corresponding genetic engineering disruptor in the portfolio, primarily with regard to this disease. I believe my stock has extreme potential in the future, it is in a top scientific position for R+D, recently reached a promising agreement with the FDA, and I am currently staying on board. Basically, however, this is an absolutely interesting stock that you have presented here, the current and future financial development is definitely not uninteresting.👌🏻 Thanks for this, I'll put it on my watch.

@Multibagger $SGMO as a genetic engineering value. In my view, this method is much more suitable for mass production than, for example, editing with Crispr (because Crispr is irreparable and therefore much more far-reaching). Sangamo's current focus is on Fabry disease, but I think there's a lot more that could be done. There were a few good articles about it here on the platform, and that, plus my own research, tipped the scales in my favor.

Thank you for the introduction, once again a very interesting company.

For me, Amicus Therapeutics is not a quick trade, but a company with substance. They already have two approved drugs on the market, one for Fabry and one for Pompe, i.e. real products and not just promises for the future. Both therapies are aimed at clearly defined patient groups, which is important in the healthcare sector because it makes reimbursement and demand more predictable. Galafold stands out above all because it is taken as a tablet and works specifically on certain genetic variants. Pompe therapy complements existing treatments and is aimed at patients for whom standard therapy is not sufficiently effective.

There is competition, especially from large pharmaceutical companies, but Amicus is not simply interchangeable because the therapies work differently and are well embedded in existing treatment centers. There is no classic moat like in the tech world, but experience, specialization and established structures offer protection. The pipeline is manageable, but shows that the company is thinking ahead. You should keep an eye on the debt, while sales are growing and the focus is clearly on financial stabilization. For me, this is a solid company with long-term potential, not a loud hype topic, but a quiet development.

@EpsEra It's great how you familiarize yourself with each sector and give a good analysis. I think the small niche providers in particular have an advantage. Because they don't have this margin pressure. And there's always a bit of takeover fantasy. That's why I'm less concerned with the big pharmaceutical companies. Thank you for everything, and I always enjoy exchanging ideas with you. Your opinion has also become very important to me.

Quick & dirty from the cell phone, if the 9.31$ holds, then it can continue as it has since the end of June.
Next stop just below 11$, but can run up to 12-14$

@Tenbagger2024 I bought a small 100pc position at $9.87 the day before yesterday right after my Q&D cell phone analysis. If it works out, then that's ok, if not then not much is broken either😅

You can still trade in pre-market trading on the NASDAQ, where large volumes are currently being traded 😉

I already have 5 pharma stocks in my portfolio, so I'm staying out of the WL for now. 👍🏼

@Tenbagger2024 I'm old and slow 😇😂. And since this is not my field at all, I really need to familiarize myself with the subject matter first. I have several stocks on the WL, but I see it more from the perspective of who could be a takeover candidate and want to speculatively invest in a few stocks in the new year.

@Bonus I am already "trading", bought at 54.40$ and set the trading SL at 58.40$, with a gap of 1$.
It has already been pulled up to 58.80$. I'll let the trade run like this. But I assume that it will kick me out again today. It's currently consolidating at a level of 59.70$ anyway. Let's see if it continues upwards from there, or if it drops back to the VWAP of the session, which wouldn't be unexpected. Then I might get in again at the VWAP.
