Hey,

I have a question and need some collective wisdom here. It’s about a loss statement (not tax advice or investment advice—I know).

I currently have $BIGG (+0,49 %) in my portfolio. That was my first stock, and I rashly invested €1,100 at €2.50 per share. Now I’m down 68%.

It’ll probably take a few more years for it to recover—if it ever does.

At the same time, I have the $D6RK (DekaFonds-TF) in my portfolio. I’ve had it since my apprenticeship back then, and I’ve made a €2,000 profit on it so far.

Now here’s my question:

I’m 99.99% sure I want to sell the DekaFonds and invest the money in a new computer (important! 😅😂) and put the rest into the World Fund.

I’m not sure about BIGG. Basically, I do believe the company will take off eventually—it’s just a matter of when. And honestly, I don’t feel like sitting on a loss of ~70% or more for the next 5 years.

So would it maybe make sense to sell it at a loss for tax purposes, just to get rid of it? What would the rough tax implications be? Is there a rough estimate I could calculate off the top of my head?

My tax advisor is unavailable for the foreseeable future, so I’m asking here to at least get a rough idea.

P.S.: My tax exemption allowance is (almost) completely used up, since I already sold another fund in January 2021.

Thanks for reading, and I hope someone can explain this to me briefly and in general terms.

@Thronar I thought it was "stupid" at first, but it makes sense because funds are treated differently for tax purposes with regard to partial exemptions.

@Dill-is-Nice are both with the Sparkasse. One in the Deka custody account and one with the SBroker.

@Dill-Ok, then that would definitely be something to consider. I won't cover it completely, but at least a little. But theoretically I can wait until next year. There's no need to rush into it now.

@Dill-is-Nice but you didn't mention that fund gains cannot be offset against share losses 👆🏻😅
