Shopify ($SHOP): Is it a good buy in 2025?

$SHOP (-1,52 %)

Shopify ($SHOP) continues to be a dominant force in e-commerce, empowering businesses worldwide. As of December 31, 2024, its stock price stands at $106.33, placing it between its 52-week low of $48.56 and high of $120.72.

Shopify is on my shopping list for 2025, in part due into its innovation in AI and logistics. Do you think this justifies its price, or would you wait for better value?

I think the following factors are worth noting:

  • Valuation: The stock is trading at a P/E ratio of 100.05, indicating high growth expectations.
  • Market Position: Shopify's strong Q3 results, with operating income up 132% and revenue up 26%, highlight its robust performance.
  • Competition: The e-commerce platform space is becoming increasingly competitive, which could impact Shopify's market share.
  • Innovation: Ongoing advancements in AI and logistics are crucial for maintaining its competitive edge.

Considering these factors, do you think Shopify is a compelling investment opportunity in 2025?

I bought 250 shares at 65$ average. Slowly sold almost half of it at very nice profit and reinvested funds into other assets.

I still plan to hold 125 shares long Term, because I like their fundamentals, its a great company but has serious volatility and high expectations.

Depends on your investment strategy

@Kubo I like your thought process. I’ve turned a couple of 24hr profits around 10-20% in the last couple of months, but now I’m looking to buy and hold a position in my long term portfolio. 💪 I do wish they paid a dividend though!

@MissionTo1Million they dont because they are a growth stock! They reinvest the money into business. I like it but at one point it made 50% of my entire portfolio and the volatility was killing me, had to cut it down a bit, also with these kind of stocks its wise to take profits. One day you might be 100%+ and the next day only 70%+
