No big crash today. Maybe you'll have better luck tomorrow

Aloha,

I would like to sell the $EXI2 (-1,03 %) sell and shift into my remaining ETFs, but mainly into the $HMWO (-1,05 %)

Would you wait? Would you do it today? Would you at least wait for the next dividend payment (15.03.2025)? When might be a good time to sell? Would you then reallocate everything at once or, for example, split it over four weeks in a savings plan?

I think it's similar to buying, when the decision is made to get it out, then immediately. Timing is always difficult.

@WarrenamBuffet but in 40 days there will be dividends

@Ji_hyun If you have lost, say, 5 percent in 40 days, the dividend won't do you any good either. Then it's better to sell now. But of course, it can also be 5 percent more plus the dividend. That's the problem with timing :D

Looking at the market at the moment, I would reallocate now.

The question is why wait? There will never be a best time. If you are sure that you are doing the right thing, then you can go that way.

Dividend is deducted from the price, so don't understand why you want to wait for the ex-date?

And why do you want to wait 4 weeks to reallocate? You are currently fully invested - when you sell, you are partially no longer invested. Unless your investment decision / risk profile has changed.

@Ji_hyun Yes, and where does the dividend come from? Exactly, the dividend is deducted from the price of the ETF 👌

If you want to reallocate, just do it. The stocks are at the top of your world ETF anyway, so that's why.

Whether you run one of them in parallel or not hardly changes your overall distribution. Instead of 2 ETFs, you only have one ETF.

I'm highlighting a few clever minds, the others are no less clever, they just lack evidence.

@DonkeyInvestor I thought I could sell the exi2 immediately and the HMWO in the afternoon because the crash didn't happen this morning and it might come in the afternoon

@Ji_hyun maybe. But maybe it will turn out quite differently. No one knows

Yes, sell and perhaps also sell $MPW at the same time. 😇

I have proven to be a smart guy? How could that happen 😯 thank you 🫶

The $EXI2 is very technology-heavy and US-heavy.
The sector has been so punished recently due to the Chinese competitor to chatGPT.
In my opinion, much ado about little. The Chinese version is very regulated and spits out a lot of false information.
In my opinion, this is also gradually becoming clearer to users.
But there are still the punitive tariffs...

And here I have to be honest and say that I find it difficult to assess.

I was actually assuming a recovery in the US technology sector, if you only look at the AI competition.

But as far as the trade war is concerned, I have little idea. The last time Trump became president and did his stuff, I wasn't involved in the stock market.

You are well up with the $EXI2 at over 16%. You could of course use that to take profits.
I'm more of a fan of broadly diversified industrialized countries ETFs.
Given the date (15.03.25), I wouldn't wait for the next distribution.

If you want to sell $EXI2, I would switch directly to $HMWO this evening.

I consider $EXI2 to be a solid foundation. With 50 stocks, it is sufficiently diversified (with a maximum of 8% per stock) and without exception only great stocks are included, where I would buy individual stocks without hesitation. The core and some individual stocks that are not included... A dream 😍 💭

I would make the switch promptly market timing does not work. You could defer the switch for tax reasons. But it depends on the amounts and profits. We are also only just in February, so you would have to wait another 10 months. From my point of view, everything speaks in favor of implementing the change promptly. With regard to the ex-date, others have already pointed out that this is more or less irrelevant, as it depends on the share price.
