Current account $INGA (-1,8 %)

I have opened a current account with ING and have now convinced my wife to transfer our joint account there.

The website says that it's free if you receive more than €700.

My question: Does it have to be salary, pension or similar, e.g. I pay €1000 a month into it, does that also count towards it being free?

Maybe someone knows about this, I can't find anything on the site.

Greetings Dirk

Yes, that counts too (I do the same with comdirect at €700/month).

Every bank has a "List of prices and services" for this purpose.
This states "Free of charge for incoming money of at least €700 per calendar month". The corresponding asterisk text then states "'Excluded are securities transactions, own transfers and credits from the booking of return debits."

This means that it is not free if you transfer money yourself.

@DerMartin Exciting, maybe it will cut off for me because the account is in my wife's name, from which it will then be transferred 🤔

@Kytez So we have a joint account and each transfer >€700. That's enough. Apart from the €0.99 / current card, we pay nothing.

@KevinC and the debit card was canceled immediately 🤣 nobody needs it these days 😅

@GoDividend I use it to pay for every purchase 🤷‍♂️

@KevinC Amex? Or another credit card? Problem solved.

@GoDividend I have a private credit card, as does my partner. Plus the current accounts. Honestly, I can't remember any more pins 😃
Apart from the fact that the €2/month doesn't really matter for us.

@GoDividend Except in stores that don't accept credit or debit cards, but "only EC". Unfortunately, this happens more often than I would like.

@KevinE I was sent the Debit Visa which works in every store, so you can save yourself the Girocard 🤷🏻
Funny... @DerMartin is right, I just looked it up myself.
But it's interesting that @KevinC doesn't pay anything. What could be the reason for that?
I did the same with my wife.

Joint account:
Current account with Visa card on top and overnight money for fixed costs

Incoming money is enough, it doesn't have to be my salary. I transfer money and that's it (note, transfer from another bank). We have a current card (my wife) and 2 visas.
They charge 99ct per month for the debit card

They let you pay more money each year for less service , in my opinion

@trader_385 I did that when they started charging me 99ct per month for the card.

It really annoyed me when they started charging me and I just wanted something back 🥴

At that time 8.99€ buyin...collected a few dividends and bissl increase in value. Well, bissle is an understatement at the current price of just under €15. Unfortunately I only bought 15 shares, wanted to top them up every now and then...but never got anywhere near the buyin price...

@Ghoscht 99 cents but only for the Girocard, which you hardly need these days, if you're honest. :)

@Staatsmann unless you want to deposit money into your account.... for this you need the girocard
image de profil
@Paddy_ro Really? I didn't know that.
I hardly ever have cash and the last time I deposited cash was when I was still at the Sparkasse. 🙈

Thanks for the info!

@Staatsmann So there is only the option of using "ing cash". Works somehow via the app. But it costs 1.5% in fees. Very expensive in my opinion. So for people who want to deposit their black money regularly, I recommend the girocard 😂
@Ghoscht That was exactly my motivation. I also bought 25 shares to get the 99 cents back. I'm up 20% since then and the dividend easily pays for the 99 cents.
