AI and Software Reverse Engineering

That's an interesting topic—it reminds me a bit of the era of pirated copies in the early 2000s. It doesn't just affect $ADBE (+0,99 %) ; the gaming industry is also currently grappling with this issue.

I find it surreal that people think reverse engineering Adobe products will kill the platform—of course not. It’s used by professionals and companies; no one is going to use “pirated” applications—only casual users, and even then, I have my doubts. I don’t see this as a problem, at least not for now. The only real issues are the product’s price and the competition.

@emppsb It is just another way in which AI impacts the software industry.

@emppsb i agree without any coding knowledge it is wise to be really careful with these things.
Fun fact: i heard someone reverse engineered their smart tv to stop it from sending data home (and he found that thing shared loads of data)
Adobe certainly has a solid customer base and data to give them a wide moat that cannot be impacted by simple reverse engineering. There are some grey areas on the legal side that might have to be addressed in the near future. Also software companies might team up with model creators to protect their software.

Back in the day, there was no alternative, but today everyone’s happy to finally be free of the subscription trap. It’d be awesome to edit a PDF without some crappy app… but when I think about what happened in the 2000s, I’m afraid I’ll have to sign up for a subscription in a few years just to get into the App Store.
