Hi everyone, so far I've only commented a few times. On the occasion of my 50k milestone (portfolio size minus cash) I wanted to post my portfolio, write something about myself, take critiques and say what I'm up to. Feel free to comment but please stay friendly :)

My name is Marvin, I'm 30 years old, an engineer and now work as a civil servant in project management.

My salary is not bad from my point of view and due to my life situation I have been able to invest a lot in shares over the last 2.5 years. (I hadn't really saved before, as I was studying for my traineeship and buying a car) For my parents/grandparents, the stock market is just a place where you can lose everything.

In the beginning, I thought I was clever and did a few things (e.g. $175 (-2,7 %) ) made me richer, especially in terms of experience.

My investment strategy is not entirely straightforward and could best be described as core/satelite. The core is the MSCI world. I also have a few ETFs that I no longer invest in (at most maybe the $EMXC where I am still unsure whether I will switch the remaining ETFs or let them run.

My shares are intended to use the capital gains allowance with the dividends and are partly more for psychological reasons. (gimmick, feeling of control, feedback through dividends). I don't have a specific strategy here, except that when a stock catches my eye, I try to see if the fundamentals are right.

I sold most of the poorly performing stocks as I didn't see any potential for improvement. What has remained for me is Canadian Solar, despite the -40% in the meantime

Questions and suggestions are welcome.

PS: Does anyone know if/how I can remove the cash portion from the portfolio? For me it serves more as an "extended better interest-bearing daily allowance, which I can wait 3-5 days for in an emergency.

Edit: Clarification that the allowance for capital gains is meant.

Jetez un coup d'œil à mon Tableau de bord maintenant !

Good portfolio, good selection. However, I would place a stop loss at TWSC if the share is to go down. I think that a strong correction of over 10% is possible for this share

@Irina TSMC I suppose. To be honest, a stoploss below 10% is almost too quick for me. I would have fallen on my nose a few times this year. But when I look at the price trend, I can see where you're coming from.

How can you not have any taxes yet?
image de profil
@Ayecaramba256 no taxes? Of course I pay taxes
image de profil
@Marwe Oh, sorry about the tax-free allowance, I mean the 1000 euros for investment income
image de profil
@Marwe But you don't only have German companies, which is why you always have to pay taxes, even if you haven't yet used the tax-free allowance. Withholding tax...

@Ayecaramba256 That is correct. These are of course deducted (by the broker).

@Marwe but then they have to be in here too, otherwise you will falsify your performance

@Ayecaramba256 Good point! I haven't even noticed that they are not deducted yet. Is there anything I can do here as part of the automatic import? or do I have to do this manually for every dividend? Shouldn't be that much so far, of course, but it's important in the long run

You are doing investing since 2021 and just got very very less total return with this money you can get easily 10 to 20% PA

@Shauket I don’t really see where it is easy but yeah I could have done better if I had not tried to „outsmart“ the market to begin with. What strategy do you suggest to get there? I dont like to go full risk.

I feel like I have not done to bad, considering 2022/23 had crazy up and downs without a real extreme. (Like 40% drop/increase in an index)

@Marwe to me your total return 2% is showing and with that huge money it is very less if we compared timespan. I won’t hold a stock if my position goes 8% down I try to sell immediately. Learn this lesson since my last big loss. If I will be in your position I put more money on tech oil and gas and keep 5 to 10 k for swing trade that give you 5 to 6% on defensive stocks
