Going diaper-free (“diaper-free”)
Breastfeeding is enough; no supplementary food is needed
Keep driving the same car, living in the same house
If one income is lost, the child does not have to go to daycare during the first 3 years (and shouldn’t)
Etc., etc.

•@Gehebeltes-EFH Diapers are just a small expense. By age 2, very few mothers are still exclusively breastfeeding. If you’ve already been driving and living in a space that’s larger than you need, you obviously don’t need an upgrade. As soon as the child started daycare, I went back to work—until it was time to pick them up.

•@DonkeyInvestor 3,000 € in healthcare costs???, no toddler has to attend classes or join clubs
Etc., etc.
Etc., etc.

@Gehebeltes-EFH Private health insurance and a hospital stay during which we felt it made sense for her recovery to book a private room not covered by insurance.
Kids’ gymnastics, group music classes, … the little one just loves them. Of course, she doesn’t have to participate. But it’s a great opportunity if she enjoys it.

@Gehebeltes-EFH Breastfeeding is only possible if the mother a) is able to do so in the first place and b) produces enough breast milk; otherwise, supplemental feeding is necessary anyway.
