The Brazilian government has asked the US to exclude food products and Embraer airplanes from the 50% tariff on Brazilian goods planned to take effect on August 1. This was reported to Reuters on Tuesday by a source familiar with the matter.
The request was the main topic in recent talks between Brazilian and US government officials, the source said. These included three phone calls between Brazil's Vice President and Commerce Minister Geraldo Alckmin and US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick in recent days.
