I recently started my investing journey in February—just before the market started dipping—and I wanted to share my second portfolio update and some of the lessons I’ve learned early on.
I began with a focus on building a dividend portfolio, leaning toward REITs like VICI ($VICI (+2,31 %) ) and Realty Income ($O (+1,99 %)). Despite the market correction, these stocks held up fairly well, and by the end of March, my portfolio hit around $11K with an expected $440 in annual dividend income. I'm now working toward a short-term goal of $500/year in dividends.
In my latest YouTube video, I walk through:
- My first few transactions as a new investor
- What it was like investing during a downturn
- Why I focused on defensive stocks and REITs
- The early performance of my picks
- My next goals and plans for the channel
Would love to hear your thoughts—how did your first few months of investing go? Did you also start during a rocky market? What helped you stay calm or focused?

Looking forward to learning from others here and sharing the journey!
